Summit Engineering provided structural engineering for this exciting 45,000-SF, five-story mixed-use building. The upper four stories are wood framed while the second and first floors are supported by steel framing. Frequent window openings for the upper floors necessitated continuous tie-down systems to resist lateral loads. The street level, which houses commercial entities, utilized a minimum number of braced frames to allow flexibility in the use of the spaces. Phased construction was considered to allow partial development in the winter/spring of 2011/2012.
